Like you said you start with a very advanced mater manipulator and you also have a high tech 3d printer inside the ship. If rather then dropping back to stone tools, you just used the high tech that is on your ship. Plot justifies nothing! I think I would feel better if the matter manipulator was your main mining tool and then you just moved into higher tech versions as you went along. While you DO have to go through a low-tech phase, that's specifically for plot reasons (you don't have the resources to manufacture high tech goods at first, because for various reasons depending on species you had to escape from your planet with little more than a ship and the shirt on your back). You enjoy testing buggy and unfinished code You’ll get to see a bunch of ‘behind the scenes’ content at this stage and provide feedback during this crucial period. The engine won’t optimized during this stage of the beta so performance could be poor on some low end machines. You should expect the game to be broken at points as we make sweeping changes but you’ll get to enjoy exciting new content added constantly. If you choose to take part during stage 1 you should expect bugs, lots of balance changes, you shouldn’t get too attached to your character or universe as we may make changes that require you to start from scratch. Updates will come thick and fast, sometimes as often as multiple updates a day. A bunch of unfinished features will be disabled whilst we finish them up. This will be the buggiest and busiest stage of the beta. I wasn't aware of backing up save files until recently so I have no back ups, has anyone ever encountered this problem before? And if so how would I go about fixing it? I'm relatively new to Starbound so I don't know if this was intended or a major bug but I would appreciate any answers.Stage 1 will be move at a breakneck speed. I then check to see my save file and find the same thing, it was as if you where starting again but our character's inventory's and skills remain untouched, however any changes to the planets we've been on or our ships have all vanished as if we where never there. Upon entering his ship he had received the first quest as well as another Matter manipulator his had ship being wiped of all the items placed within. So one minute I'm playing my Starbound just fine with all of my tier 3 items, then I decided to take a break and turn off my Starbound (leaving it to update) I come back after about 2 hours and find my little brother playing it, he then gives me some alarming news.
